LGBT+ Thamesmead is run and organised by an association of members on an entirely volunteer basis.
Our weekly drop-ins and regular activities are free and open to anyone who’s LGBTQIA+, seeking community and friendship and wants to join in, no membership required.
However, if you’d like to be more involved and help to actively grow and shape what we do, consider becoming a full Association Member!
We’re always eager to welcome new people who support the aims of LGBT+ Thamesmead and want to help their local LGBTQIA+ community to thrive!
Association Membership
Make your voice heard
Get invited to our regular General Meetings, share your ideas and opinions about what we do and how we’re run, vote on decisions, and stand for election to our Committee at our Annual General Meeting.
Shape your community
Is there an activity that you’re passionate about or feel is needed in your local LGBTQIA+ community? Association Members can volunteer as an Activity Host and are covered by our public liability insurance.
Exclusive socials and activities
Attend association-only meetings, talks, activities and socials as a thank you for giving up your valuable time to volunteer.
Early, discount access to events
Get earlier access and lower prices for events and activities that have tickets or a cost.
How to join
Association Membership costs £5 per year.
This fee goes toward the costs of running the group, including insurance, IT costs and printing expenses.
To request to join, complete an Association Membership application form.
Once completed, our Membership Secretary will contact you and invite you to the next General Meeting. This is where you’ll sign your membership agreement, pay the annual membership fee and receive your membership card.
Pay It Forward Memberships
We wholeheartedly believe that nobody should be excluded from actively having their say in our community because of financial concerns.
Members who can afford to do so can donate a Pay It Forward Membership. This allows someone else to join the association who may not have been able to otherwise.
There’s no difference whatsoever between standard Association Membership and Pay It Forward Membership. Everyone has the same type of membership card, the same voting rights in meetings, and the same right to stand for election to a Committee role.
Everyone’s individual membership type is completely confidential and will only be known to you and the Membership Secretary who processes your application.
